CHANTILLY, Va. – April 2, 2024 All Traffic Solutions (ATS) awarded a Shield 12 radar speed sign to Gibraltar Police Department in Michigan through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.

All Traffic Solutions is committed to creating safe streets and neighborhoods across the country with their products and software. Over the years, ATS found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs but lack the necessary funds and do not qualify for grants. The ATS Gives Back goal is to bridge this gap by donating a data-collecting radar speed sign to a community in need each month. ATS Gives Back recipients also receive a subscription to TraffiCloud®, a secure online portal for remote equipment management and ready-made traffic reports.

The Gibraltar Police Department is a small law enforcement agency located just south of Detroit in Wayne County, Michigan. With a team of 10 dedicated full-time officers, they serve a population of just under 5,000 residents. Chief Rick Tanguay applied to the ATS Gives Back program with the hope of acquiring a sign that not only deters speeders but also collects valuable data. Having a sign like this will help us reduce speeding vehicles in areas where vehicles and pedestrians travel often. I plan to deploy this sign regularly near our public schools. When school is not in session the sign will be used in high-traffic areas to help reduce speeding vehicles.” said Chief Tanguay. “I also plan to use this sign to gather data that will allow our community to conduct selective enforcement zones using that data.”

Since receiving their new Shield 12 radar speed sign, the Gibraltar Police Department has strategically placed it in various locations throughout the town. In addition, the department has shared the reports generated through TraffiCloud® on their Facebook account, allowing residents to see the positive impact it is having on the roads. Many residents have provided feedback and suggestions on where the sign should be placed next in the town. In their most recent Facebook post featuring the radar speed sign, the department revealed that the strobe lights on the sign successfully slowed down 30 percent of vehicles traveling over 30 MPH. Chief Tanguay expressed his satisfaction with the sign, stating that the police department “loves it and utilizes it on a weekly basis.”
