CHANTILLY, Va. – June 17, 2024 All Traffic Solutions (ATS) awarded a Shield 12 radar speed sign to the Belgrade-Brooten Police Department in Minnesota through the company’s ATS Gives Back initiative.

All Traffic Solutions is committed to creating safe streets and neighborhoods nationwide with their products and software. Over the years, ATS found that police departments in smaller communities have a need for All Traffic Solutions signs but lack the necessary funds and may not qualify for grants. The ATS Gives Back goal is to bridge this gap by donating a data-collecting radar speed display sign to a community in need each month. ATS Gives Back recipients also receive a subscription to TraffiCloud®, a secure online portal for remote equipment management and ready-made traffic reports.

The Belgrade and Brooten Police Departments, situated northwest of Minneapolis, Minnesota, are small law enforcement agencies that have joined forces to better serve their communities. Operating under the name Belgrade-Brooten Police Department, these two departments are only seven miles apart. Together, they employ three full-time and three part-time officers, led by Police Chief Casey Jansky. Chief Jansky applied to the ATS Gives Back Program with the hope of acquiring a radar speed sign to be installed near a local elementary school. The goal is to deter speeding during peak drop-off and pick-up times. Recognizing the need for increased safety measures, Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Elementary School Principal Josie Dingmann also submitted a letter supporting the police department’s ATS Gives Back application. In her letter, Principal Dingmann emphasized the high traffic volume around the school during these critical times, stressing the importance of reminding families to drive safely and slowly in the school zone. The collaboration between the Belgrade and Brooten Police Departments, along with the support of the school community, highlights a commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents.

Since receiving the Shield 12 radar speed sign, the Belgrade-Brooten Police Department has effectively utilized its new sign as intended. The sign has been strategically placed in front of the local elementary school, serving as a deterrent to speeders in the area. In addition, the department has leveraged ready-made reports generated in TraffiCloud to analyze traffic data in response to resident complaints about speeding. Chief Jansky expressed his gratitude to All Traffic Solutions, acknowledging the significant impact that the Shield 12 and TraffiCloud have had on calming traffic. He stated, “It has made a huge difference in traffic speeds. I also was able to show people that the speeds never got over 35 mph. The complaints were always 40-50 mph through there. It’s been great to show the traffic numbers and speeds.”
